My new obsession (and I don't even sing)

YOU GUYS.

If have a minute (or, like, an hour) check out The Voice.

I'm watching it right now, and I am IN LOVE.

I don't even like talent competition shows!

(I swear, they are not paying me to say this)

Man, the people who put this show together knew what they were doing. It's so suspenseful and crazy, and when the artists get to choose between the judges I can't stop jumping up and down!

It's so intense.

So check it out.

And if you're at work, wearing headphones, and being subtle?

Try watching it on igoogle. It's a much smaller screen, and you can make the rest of the page look business-like.

You're Welcome.

There are HOW MANY WAYS???

Too bad I didn't see this last week. Kurt would have had a VERY manly birthday.

50 Ways to Use Feminine Hygiene Products in a Manly Manner

So now I'm curious; what's the manliest way you've ever used a tampon?

(I know, you probably get asked that all the time.)

Saving Money Is Sexy. Just Ask Kurt.

Hi guys. Remember how last week I said to ignore any and all emails that contain links asking for your credit cards?

That's still a good idea.

But remember my ending line, where I said "...Unless it's a LivingSocial Deal. Those things rock my world." ??

Well, today's LivingSocial deal rocked my world so much, I would have bought it 50 times if they hadn't set a 1-per-person limit. Maybe you've heard of it already?

For $10 you can get a $20 Amazon Gift Certificate.

Yeah.

Best.Deal.Ever.

In case you are wondering what LivingSocial is, it's a lot like Groupon. They have a new deal every day, and it expires in a day. So that Amazon card? You only have until tomorrow morning to purchase that.

But you don't have to use it in the next day.

I usually purchase the half-off local restaurant deals. For $15, I regularly get $30 to spend at all sorts of cool restaurants. We've tried an Ethiopian restaurant, an Italian restaurant, an Indian Food restaurant, etc.

You usually have 6 months to use your deal. Sometimes there are other limits, but that's pretty standard, at least for the restaurant deals.

It makes date night pretty darn affordable. Which, when you're married, becomes the biggest turn-on.

(At least for Kurt.)

This Amazon giftcard, though? Does not expire. I looked- it's in the fine print. Who knew fine print could be so exciting?

So you could save this for Christmas time- 5 years from now. Or use it to buy a few trashy romance novels. Or a textbook.

Or heck, put it towards a Kindle.

Or just sit there, wondering if this is spam. After all, there was that whole free-movie-ticket-incident...

(come on guys. You know this is me.)

So why am I telling you about this? I have to be getting something out of it.

Well, I love you all. And I know how to share. And I am not being asked to write this post, or sponsored in any way.

Except...well, if three of you do buy this gift, and you use this link? I get mine free.

It's only $10. So if you don't, I won't be all that disappointed.

(But if you do I'll love you forever.)

And once you buy your deal? They'll give you a link. And if three of your friends click through that on facebook or twitter or anywhere you put it, and they buy it too? You will get your deal for free.

It's like the coolest pyramid scheme ever.

But if you aren't into sharing, you can also just enjoy the fantastic deal without sharing it. No one will know. Except God.

Also, my blogging has been kind of...slow lately.

*cough*understatement*cough*

And this is kind of like a kick in the butt. Maybe tomorrow I'll even draw a picture.

So there you go. Full disclosure.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check out Amazon. I have some money to spend.

My Awesome Brother In Law (this might change your life)

Hey guys, Have you checked out my Sponsors? They are all there for a reason. BECAUSE THEY ARE AWESOME.

Do you see the one in the middle of the top row? Here, it looks like this:

Life in the Pitts

That button leads to an awesome website, designed and run by my brother in law, Dave Hulihan (Amber's Husband).

I love it. It's called the Wishilist Factory, and it has made our birthdays and holidays SO much easier.

Here, I'll let him tell you all about it (and I'll even add more pictures, just for you guys).

 ----------------------------------
Hi, my name’s Dave, and I’m the owner and developer of WishlistFactory.com, a private wishlist website for friends and families. This website lets you create wishlists(for any event or person) that you can then share with a group of people.
A little background

I have a big family, and my wife’s family is also pretty big. As you can imagine, keeping track of what one individual person wants for their birthday or for Christmas can be a nightmare...

Growing up, I often received bizarre gifts like Volcano Documentaries, Oven Mitts, Socks, Thermometers, etc. Not bad gifts, but not always appropriate for a teenage boy. I think these were the result of people not actually knowing what I had on my wishlist.
Originally, I made this website for my wife, who loves Christmas and buys a ton of gifts for everyone. During the holiday season it can be tough to stay sane while keeping track of what people want and who has already bought a gift on someone’s wishlist. This website helps out with that.
WishlistFactory lets you create a wishlist for yourself or anyone else in your family, and you can create groups(like one for your family and one for your in-laws) of people that can then see that wishlist.

Surprise Protection is very important, the person who the wishlist is for must never know what other people are getting them!
Other people in the group can add gifts to anyone’s wishlist and change the status of the gift(if you bought the gift, you would mark the gift as Purchased and so on) so no one ever buys the same gift as someone else(which prevents awkward moments).
There’s a lot of other cool features on the website, so stop by and check them out. This is a free service, so create an account and try it out. Hopefully it will help with keeping your sanity when it comes to gift-giving.
 ----------------------------------

So here's the thing- this website has made holidays and birthdays so much easier. Especially since I moved across the country.

No more calling people over and over to say "Do you have any idea what to get this person?"

So go check it out. It's awesome.

I can't stop laughing!

I am trying to be quiet, since I'm at work right now. But I'm not very good at suppressing laughter. I keep snorting.

Here is my brother Jimmy:

(He's the one on the right)

He just turned 26. And for his birthday I decided to get him the Artemis fowl Collection. But I was $1.90 short of Amazon's Super Shipper Savings (If you're ever in that situation, here is a handy little link). So I found this awesome filler present. Have you heard of Stanky Legg? Yeah me neither. Go check it out- you know you're curious.

It's so perfect. I immediately added it to my shopping cart, and checked out. Annie (his wife) is going to tell him "I think it's her favorite song. She thinks you'll really like it too."

I.CANNOT.WAIT.

Mod Podge Project

Today I showered before taking Kurt to school. I usually don't. Our mornings go like this: Kurt drags me out of bed, I sleepwalk to the kitchen, and wake up when I start eating breakfast. Then I put on a sweater and take him to school. No makeup. Hair all matted. I don't even brush my teeth. If the health department found out, they'd probably quarantine me as a Bio Hazard. So if you ever see me dropping him off, you can wave hi- just do it from a distance.

This morning was different. I wanted to look good, because I was going straight from the Dental School to the Jewelers, to get my ring inspected (And you know those employees are gonna judge you). So not only did I shower and floss and wear deodorant; I also straightened my hair, put on perfume, and wore nice shoes. Go me.

A few hours and 12 stores later, I ended up at Burlington Coat Factory. Where I found this mirror. It has a 10" crack in it, and so it was clearanced down from $60 to $8. Um, awesome. I've been looking for a good Mod Podge project.

See? Big crack.

I used this paper (which I also used in my First Crafty Project), and free handed it. Except the swirly parts at the bottom of the mirror. I just cut those out. If you are craving those swirls, they are from the bottom left paper here (right under the familiar striped one), and you can find both of those papers at Michaels.

I used the glossy kind of Mod Podge, since I was working with glass.

I placed the giant mirror flat on the floor (sorry, no pics of these steps). Then I laid out the pieces how I wanted them. Next, I picked one piece up, put a thin layer of Mod Podge on the back of it, and replaced it on the mirror. Finally, I coated the front of the piece as well. It took about an hour to do the whole thing (because I was really nervous).

At first I was using Windex and Q-tips to clean up any of the Mod Podge that leaked out from underneath the pieces. Once I realized how futile that was, I gave each piece an outline in the glue.

I think it turned out great. Now only if we could agree on where to put it.

Lingerie

There will soon be a new Second Year Wife here at the Dental School (ha, it sounds like a compound when I say it like that). Tonight I am going to Rachel's Bridal Shower. And of course, I'm bringing lingerie.

I'm kind of an expert on buying this stuff. Back when Amber (my sister) was turning 16, I couldn't find her a present. I was walking around WalMart, my 7th store, when it caught my eye: a pink bra and thong set, COVERED in feathers. So tacky. So perfect.

Unsuspecting, she opened it in front of a group of friends at her party. She turned bright red, and shoved it back into the bag. It was so funny. For my birthday, she retaliated. And a tradition was born.

Every Birthday, Christmas, anything with presents all the girls get "sister's gifts." By the time we all got married, we had drawers full of the stuff. Some of it is cute, and some of it is really awful (or confusing). And we always try to disguise the package, so it gets opened in front of everyone. The guys in the family know not to ask when one of us starts to open something, and then quickly shoves it under the table.

So that's the history. And here are some tips I've learned over the years:

1. Try to keep a record of your friends sizes, so you don't have to ask before a birthday. "What's your bra size" is a dead give away.

2. It doesn't have to fit them perfectly. It's not like it stays on that long.

3. There is no need to go for the expensive stuff. Victoria's Secret is nice, but you can get some awesome stuff for less

Which brings me to the real reason for this post. Burlington Coat Factory. They have THE BEST lingerie. The selection varies from store to store, but it is always $10. And it is high quality. The one out here has a HUGE lingerie section, with everything from naughty maid costumes to silky babydolls. So next time you are going to a bridal shower, or just want a gag gift, check it out.

I just can't sleep

Thank goodness for online shopping. Stores that close at night are so last century!

I just found these on Etsy. They are not cheap (and the bigger stuff is sold seperately). However, I think they are great. We've talked a little bit about decorating our future kids rooms. Kurt really likes the thought of having cool things painted on the wall, like trees. I'm all, "Ok, but who's gonna paint them?" I don't have skills like that! And then there's the whole question of whose gonna paint over them when we have to either a) move, or b) give them a more grown-up paint job. These take care of all of those worries. Removable, Restickable, Washable fabric cut outs for your walls.

I think yes.
