Some thought on Creative Therapy

You know, our Creative Therapy sessions are my favorite part of the week. Hosting a link party is hard work, and it takes a lot of time. But for me? It's worth it.

Your projects always thrill me. Seeing the huge variety of projects that are linked up each week is amazing. Simple or elaborate, experienced crafter or beginner, each one of you makes me stop and think "I wonder if I could do that."

For someone who is intimately acquainted with depression, getting that jolt of enthusiasm and excitement can make all the difference.

It helps me want to do more than just sleep when I get home.

Which, if you ask my family (or any past roommates), is saying a lot.

So thank you.

I would like to ask you to do something. When people link up their crafts, please click on the links. Even just a few of them.

Then? Leave a comment. You guys know what it's like- checking your email 6 times per day, hoping for a comment.

Don't worry, I'm not asking you to visit all of them (you know, unless you want to). That's my job. But please, visit a few. Even if they aren't at the front of the list.

Some of these women are beginning crafters. They have no idea how to take a good picture of their project. Their tutorial skills might suck. But they need encouragement. They need to feel like they are a part of this community of creative women.

Isn't that why we all blog? To make new friendships, and learn from each other?

That's what I want this Creative Therapy to be about.

Now, here are the rules.

1. Make sure you link directly to the page your Creative Project is on, not your main blog page (please, no Etsy Shops or online stores).

2. Leave a short description of your project.

3. Grab my Craft Therapy button, and put it somewhere visible. Or you can just create a link back. I'm not too picky.

4. Visit the person above you in the Linky list, and leave them a comment. And if you'd like to visit a few more people, that would be great, too!

The linky will close at Midnight on the 14th, so be sure to link up before then. And if you don't get your project done on time, don't stress. Enjoy the projects that were linked up, and participate again next week.

Hey, I tried going to the first link and it wouldn't work, then I tried my link (the second one) and it isn't working either... I don't know anything about these linky things so I don't know what to say! Let me know if I need to come back and link up again, I would love to!!

Thanks! Jen www.justforrachel.com

Thanks for what you said. As one of those crafters who is just starting out, I **DO** need all the encouragement I can get. I love comments. And, the truth is, I **love** going to see everyone's projects....that's where I get a lot of my inspiration. 1st things 1st....I'll go visit that link before mine. :-)

I often do visit the links ecah week, but don't get to leave comments all the time. I work 60+ hours a week LITERALLY :( incuding weekends, so I only have a short window in the morning and short window at night to work on blog stuff. I try to comment, but do want you all to know that I visit! :)

I know what you mean about being a host of a party... it is a LOT of work! But I'm sure grateful that there are people out there that do it so I can link up!

I haven't blogged about anything creative lately, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else is doing and spreading some comment love!

Hi there,
I'm linking up for the first time. I like what you said about commenting and visiting the other links.

I host a link party too (you should come over sometime!), and I'm amazed that many people never even click on a link after they link their own project. They're only interested in getting their own stuff out there.

I'm off to see some of your links now! Have a great week!

Hi Lanie..Barb from santasgiftshoppe.blogspot.com
I just have to thank you for the wonderful comment you made about us beginners..also thank you for hosting a great party as usual..
Your comment on helping the beginners get started & feeling a part of the creative community brought tears to my eyes..I have only been linking up for about 3 weeks today & the support, encouragment, & love that has been given to me by my fellow women crafters & moms is amazing..Especially the comments they leave..I have so many people comming & commenting on my blog now...These Link parties are a beautiful loving community.. We all have talents that are untapped & just need a little pat on the back to get us going or inspired..That's one of the reasons I started by blog..because my parents (who have both passed away) left a legacy of faith, charity, & you can do anything you wan tot do in this life & I want all persons everywhere to believe in themselves & have a more inspired & happier life. So please leve comments to uplift & give confidence to as many as you can..It has inspired me to try & uplift more people than ever before. Sorry this is so long!!

Great message! I agree with one of the previous peeps, this is a great community. I just started linking projects a couple of weeks ago and I've been pleasantly surprised at how nice everyone has been. You're totally on target about the comments too. I try to comment on all the links I click on. I feel bad about all of these years that I would visit blogs and get ideas and never leave a comment. I wasn't a blogger so I just didn't understand how a comment can make someone's day. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I think you're such a sweetie.

I love the Craft Therapy! I'm very glad you do it, and that you're excited about it. It motivates me, when I see all these awesome projects. I made something! So I can link up again this week :-)
