Advent Calendar

Have I mentioned how adorable my sister in law Annie is? She sent me a Christmas package today.

I have been looking for a good Advent Calendar. One that is cute and crafty. I found a lot of ideas online, but they all had one thing in common- I needed to buy at least one part. And I have no money. So I decided just to wait until next year. However, every time I checked my follow box, all I saw were posts featuring adorable Advent Calendars from awesome crafty people. It's like the knew, and they were taunting me!

So anyway, Annie sent me a package. And it was BIG. Not heavy, like the one my dad sent me. But it was a good 2 feet tall, and 1 foot wide. And when I opened it up... You guessed it! An Advent Calendar!

She used a mini-muffin tin. In the bottom of each hole, she put cute little circles of holiday paper (held in by little 2-sided tape pieces. The pre-cut kind you can get on a roll in the scrapbook section).

She included a zip lock full of Hershey's Peppermint Kisses (which I love). I put one in for each day.

Then I pulled out the adorable circles she had cut out to cover the holes. They were made from cheerful holiday scrapbook paper. They were numbered 1-24 (On day 25 you get to open all the presents under the tree).

The backs each circle had a little magnet (so if you are going to make this, be sure that your circles are big enough to cover the holes AND overlap the tray enough to fit a magnet on). They work perfectly- I would never have thought to use a cupcake tin as a magnet board!

See? finished project. So cute and perfect and exactly what I had envisioned! I am so happy. I hung it right over my desk, so it can inspire me every day.

Thanks Annie!
